According to research I have done with Google and Bing (particularly focused on academic studies), risk-takers share some key traits.
Here’s a listing of the most common ones:
- Confidence: Risk-takers believe that, given time, they can face the challenges presented to them daily. They have an almost unshakeable drive to overcome obstacles.
- Resilience: The risk-taker learns through his or her failures. Adversity in life is a learning experience. It is not perceived as rather than a barrier to moving forward.
- Decisiveness: Risk-takers don’t hesitate. They may not be sure of the outcome of their actions, but they quickly reach the point of making a decision.
- Adaptability: They like change. They get bored if there isn’t sufficient variety in their lives. Risk-takers are quick to adjust to changing conditions.
- Optimism: Risk-takers focus on potential rewards. They don’t dwell on risk. As a result, they readily take decisive action.
- Curiosity: The typical risk-taker will explore uncharted territories to satisfy their hunger for new experiences and knowledge.
- Tolerance for Uncertainty: They rely mostly on instinct. They don’t get caught up in absolutes.
- Emotional Control: Composure is also what characterizes resk-takers. They don’t let their emotions get the best of them.
